Sonae brand
http://www.underconsideration.com/brandnew/archives/follow-up_sonae.php
This past April we reported on the redesign of Sonae, one of Portugal’s biggest corporations running a number of consumer products and services. The redesign, executed by Lisboa-based Ivity, was met with plenty of negative criticism from myself (I called it “annoying and unpleasant”) and our readers (racking up an impressive 88% of 1,603 votes in the “Bad” category). With a little time it seems the Sonae website has transformed into something more palatable and Ivity has provided us with a movie that explains the genesis, execution, and application of the new identity. Take a look and see if your opinion changes.http://www.underconsideration.com/brandnew/archives/how_do_i_circle_thee_let_me_circle_the_ways.php
What started as a company producing “decorative laminates” in 1959 in Portugal, Sonae is now one of the countries largest corporations with almost 40,000 employees that work in a mind-numbing range of sectors across various Sonae-owned customer-facing operations: from food retail, to pharmacies, to clothing, to consumer electronics, to managing shopping centers, to telecommunications, to real estate. Basically, it’s hard to throw a stone in Portugal and not hit something owned or operated by Sonae. This past February it launched a new identity created by Lisboa-based Ivity Brand Corp.

The BIG PAGE of Branding & Corporate Identity Resources
http://www.logoorange.com/branding-corporate-identity.php
Design magnate Steven Gilliatt said ?[A logo] should look just as good in 15-foot letters on top of company headquarters as it does one sixteenth of an inch tall on company stationery.?
Considering everywhere a logo goes, its design and use can be some of the most important decisions a company makes.
And the logo isn't just about what's on the paper, it's part of the deep impressions a company makes on a person, the kind that become part of pop culture: "I'm a Mac person."
This kind of brand identity doesn't come easily. You have to have a clear plan for your company. You have to be consistent in your policies and actions. You have to have a vision for the idea you want in the customer's mind.
On this page you'll find some resources to help you create that vision for your company.
Famous Logo Designs
http://www.logoblog.org/wordpress/famous-logo-designers-creation/
We witness countless famous brands and their captivating logo designs but do we ever wonder whose brainchild is it that created these magnificent logo designs? Short and simple, I say: “Behind every successful brand there is a logo designer”http://www.toxel.com/design/2008/08/20/20-famous-logo-designs/
If there is one thing that we can learn from famous logos like Nike’s “Swoosh” or FedEx logo, it is that the logo does not have to be complicated to be effective.
Hopefully, our collection of famous logo designs will help prove that simplicity is the key to a memorable logo.

No Logo Brands Globalization Resistance
Video visionado na aula de 09/12/2010.
There's a bad mood rising against the corporate brands. No Logo is the warning on the label.
In the last decade, No Logo has become a cultural manifesto for the critics of unfettered capitalism worldwide. As the world faces a second economic depression, No Logo's analysis of our corporate and branded world is as timely and powerful as ever.
Equal parts cultural analysis, political manifesto, mall-rat memoir, and journalistic exposé, No Logo is the first book to put the new resistance into pop-historical and clear economic perspective. It tells a story of rebellion and self-determination in the face of our new branded world.O transcript pode ser consultado aqui (http://www.mediaed.org/assets/products/115/transcript_115.pdf)

Space, No Choice, No Jobs" encontra-se disponível na biblioteca da faculdade.

Logo Controversies—BP Logo
BP Logo
How would you rebrand BP? [At Greenpeace]
http://www.greenpeace.org.uk/files/tarsands/logo-competition.html
A few years ago, BP rebranded themselves as 'beyond petroleum'. And yet BP is pursuing 'unconventional oil' - the Canadian tar sands and deepwater drilling, despite the massive environmental damage that's being caused by their business.
That's why we want you to rebrand them. Your brief is to create a logo for BP which shows that the company is not 'beyond petroleum' - they're up to their necks in tar sands and deepwater drilling.
The winning logo will be used by us in innovative and exciting ways as part of our international campaign against the oil company.
We're after the best ideas and concept, not necessarily the slickest logo. So if you're not a professional designer don't worry. If you're the overall winner we're offering you a day with a top graphic designer to transform your idea into a final product.
Flicker set

BP claim that they are 'beyond petroleum'. But this is a company that is up to its neck in the dirtiest oil going - poised to invest in the Canadian tar sands, and causing environmental catastrophe through deepwater drilling.
Their nice green logo doesn't really seem to fit them too well, so we ran a competition to find a logo that we could use to rebrand BP.
The results are displayed here. Get more information at www.greenpeace.org.uk/logo

The KISS Principle—too many elements spoil the logo
http://www.logoblog.org/wordpress/spoiled-logo-design-mistakes/
We’ve heard of the old proverb “Too many cooks spoil the broth”, but there is a new maxim that logo designers must ponder … “Too many elements spoil the logo”. Sometimes, it is difficult to realize as to what makes a memorable logo? There is no arguing the fact that simplicity and minimalism is the key to perfection. As the great Leonardo da Vinci himself puts it…Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/KISS_principle
KISS is an acronym for the design principle "Keep it simple, Stupid!".[1] Other variations include "keep it short and simple"[2] or "keep it simple and straightforward".[3] The KISS principle states that simplicity should be a key goal in design, and that unnecessary complexity should be avoided.
Fifa logo evolution
http://www.logoblog.org/wordpress/fifa-logo-evolution/
Football (popularly known as Soccer in the US) is the most passionately watched sports in the world. The FIFA World Cup launched in 1930 and is repeated after every four years, with the exception of 1942 and 1946 (due to World Wars). Each World Cup has been accompanied by a fresh logo design which serves as its official insignia.
The 19th FIFA World Cup is underway with full furor in South Africa. Although the FIFA 2014 logo has also been unveiled, a total of 18 dead logos of previous FIFA World Cups have amassed so far. Let us take a quick recap of all the logos featured by FIFA in the coveted contest from the inaugural 1930 to the upcoming 2014 in Brazil.
Here is the comprehensive list of all 20 World Cup logos adopted by FIFA up till 2014:
