Brand New Sketchbook

"As a promotional idea for Brand New, our blog focusing on opinions on corporate and brand identity, we opted for a product that involved our ever-growing readership in its content rather than just forcing a product upon them. One uniting practice among identity designers — whether they do work for Fortune 500 companies or their local laundromat — is that of sketching logo ideas, typically dozens of them before refining them in the computer, so we decided to inquire about the different reasons of why designers sketch logos. With more than 300 responses through Brand New and Twitter we selected the most compelling 30 and produced a modest 32-page sketchbook.
With simple typographic treatments the cover invites designers to sketch something brand new, and across the blank pages, the 30 quotes appear at the bottom of each page. Sturdy on the outside with its red-printed chipboard cover and soft on the inside with 100% Post-Consumer Recycled paper, the Brand New sketchbook performs in meeting rooms, coffee shops and, yes, even the local laundromat."

The BIG PAGE of Branding & Corporate Identity Resources

http://www.logoorange.com/branding-corporate-identity.php
Design magnate Steven Gilliatt said ?[A logo] should look just as good in 15-foot letters on top of company headquarters as it does one sixteenth of an inch tall on company stationery.?
Considering everywhere a logo goes, its design and use can be some of the most important decisions a company makes.
And the logo isn't just about what's on the paper, it's part of the deep impressions a company makes on a person, the kind that become part of pop culture: "I'm a Mac person."
This kind of brand identity doesn't come easily. You have to have a clear plan for your company. You have to be consistent in your policies and actions. You have to have a vision for the idea you want in the customer's mind.
On this page you'll find some resources to help you create that vision for your company.

Design Obama

O livro Designing Obama encontra-se disponível at http://digital.designing-obama.com/.
The Obama presidential campaign was innovative. For the first time in American politics, a candidate used art and design to bring together the American people—capturing their voices in a visual way.
The Design Director of the Obama campaign, Scott Thomas, has collaborated with artists and designers to create Designing Obama, a chronicle of the art and design from the historic campaign. Get the inside story on how design was used by the campaign, and scope out the pieces, created unofficially, by grassroots supporters.
The 360-page book is full-color and hardbound, highly crafted with an embossed sleeve. Forewords written by Steven Heller and Michael Bierut.

Mais dois pequenos vídeos que resumem um pouco alguns conceitos abordados na conferência.

From Pencil to PDF

Logo Design Love é um livro de leitura muito acessível sobre design de logos, cujo capítulo "From Pencil to PDF" está disponível online aqui e cuja leitura se recomenda, pois diz respeito à etapa em que o vosso trabalho se encontra.
To be a good designer, you must be curious about life; the strongest ideas are born from the experiences we have and the knowledge we gain from them. The more we see and the more we know, the more ammunition we can stockpile for generating ideas.
I’m frequently asked how to integrate this stockpile into actual logo concepts, and that’s what we’re going to focus on in this chapter. We’ll look at the two vital steps in this process— mind-mapping and sketching—and then talk about what to include when preparing your presentation PDFs for the client.

  1. A contribuição do projeto de identidade corporativa na redução da poluição visual nas cidades
  2. O espírito Deutsche Werkbund na Identidade Corporativa do século XX
