1) Conforme ficou combinado na última aula, por unanimidade, assistiremos ao ensaio da banda Bairro Negro no Centro Comercial Stop dia 13/06 (segunda-feira) às 21:30. Pede-se a comparência de todos os interessados.

2) Conforme requerido, para a próxima aula (14/06) os discentes deverão trazer material que possa servir de referência no estudo do contexto da banda: imagens, textos, cds, etc..

3) Informam-se os discentes que ainda não entregaram a proposta de trabalho 6­ (relativa à identidade do IPS) que a data limite para a sua entrega é a próxima terça-feira (14 de Junho). Informa-se ainda que, obviamente por não cumprirem o prazo estipulado, a sua avaliação sofrerá as devidas penalizações.

4) O portefólio da unidade curricular Design II será o blogue do aluno. Desta forma, requere-se que até ao fim do dia 16 de Junho (quinta-feira) todos os discentes o tenham organizado e actualizado a fim de permitir uma consulta fácil para efeitos de avaliação. Cada proposta de trabalho deverá ser acompanhada pela respectiva memória descritiva (obrigatório).

This way they can ensure everything joins up and the big ideas created for brands are designed in a way that can be best communicated to the specific desired audiences.
We took the metaphor of a beautiful flower to signify these big ideas. Then applied shockwaves to them after they were frozen in liquid nitrogen.
These shockwaves resonated through the frozen plants and shattered them, into a million pieces (we didn’t count, but we we think it was close to at least million!)

A few questions to the band

Lidia and I sent an email to the band with a few questions and we got this in return:

Hi,

Must we answer in english?

Here it goes, you can translate later, anyway!

Can you give my a short summary of the band’s becoming and history?

This band has been playing together for 6 years, and when the former guitarist decided to part ways, I came up. So we decided to start a whole different new format, so to speak. We sing in portuguese, it´s completely assumed, and it´ already a big change! We´re getting ready to record an album this summer, and we can´t wait to be playing it out there for you.

How would you subscribe the kind of music you make?

It´s a mix of classic rock with a bit of brit-pop and a Queens of the Stone Age weirdness, combined with Sofia´s beautiful and powerful female tunes! The music we make is important and sincere.

What inspires the band?

It´s the pleasure of making music. This year has been great, we´ve been writing for the new album, it´s like... every rehearsal can be different and we have different types of songs, it´s always amusing to play them. I personally get inspired by walking downtown, seeing different people, different situations, watching behaviours, and living it.

Why do you play music? (For political reasons, personal etc)

We are inspired and moved by the great music we always listened to. We became what we are as musicians growing with rock n´roll. That´s who we are. We can´t run away from it, so we love doing it all the time.

What drives you?

If you love your art, you´ll always deliever everything you´ve got to it. You will always give your best shot, because you´re in love with what you´re doing. Some days are harder than others, but there´s always the two sides of the coin, and that´s the fun of it anyway.

How do you want to be seen by the outside world?

For those who don´t know us yet, we´d like to be seen as true musicians, that actually play the music. We´re not puppets, we´re not sell-outs, we´re just 4 individuals that love to create and live like this, being ourselves and delievering it all.

What elements might be important to be seen on the cd cover/logo?

In rock history, there are a few logos that no one forgets, like the Rolling Stone´s red tongue. Our logo doesn´t have necessarily to do with "Bairro Negro", but it must be a memorable and pleasing image. You just look at it, and know it´s great. If you do your research on that, you will understand this idea. Take a look at rock logos from bands like Guns n´Roses, Velvet Revolver, Rolling Stones, Zen, etc.

Outside Bairro Negro, what do the bandmembers have in common?

We are pretty much different, but that´s great for our music though. We love to have dinner at each other´s houses, we do it all the time! We like to drink and watch rock concerts. Again, we all love rock, and the 4 of us live similar lives, we have other projects inside the music business, and we take our own experience into the band, and influence each other in a personal way, we try to help each other all the time. A long discussion turns quickly into a hug and a beer toast.

What inspires your lyrics and could you please provide them to us?

Sofia is a very sensitive lyricist, likes to talk about the lyrics and discuss the meaning of every single verse. That´s inspiring too. In general, the band talks about the meaning of life, the good and less good phases you are in, or simply the every detail surrounding you, that you never pay attention to. It becomes a very self mental exercise, at the same time with a message you can identify yourself with.

Ensaio Bairro Negro

Logo após a aula de hoje fui contactado pelos Bairro Negro que vos convidaram a assistir ao seu ensaio que ocorrerá hoje à noite no Centro Comercial Stop. Será uma boa oportunidade para conhecerem com maior proximidade a banda. Peço a todos os interessados que se manifestem enviando-me um email ou comentando este post. A nova e última proposta de trabalho deste ano lectivo, apresentada na última aula, encontra-se publicada na respectiva página.

Relembra-se ainda aos alunos que não cumpriram o prazo de entrega (02/06/2011) da proposta de trabalho 06 que o deverão fazer urgentemente na próxima aula (07/06/2011), a fim de evitarem mais penalizações que prejudiquem demasiado a sua avaliação.
